Feuz out for the season

Unibet sport betting update: Swiss Skier Beat Feuz is out for the season after suffering an injury which left in hospital in Bern in a stable condition.

The problem occurred in the left knee of Feuzís where he was diagnosed with an infection and was found to be bleeding in one of his joints.

The 25-year old finished runner up in the World Cup last season behind Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal in Schladming, Austria. It was the injury to his knee that slowed him down and could have cost him the number one spot in the standings.

Feuz also won four races in the 2011/12 campaign. Three of those came in the downhill discipline, while the other two were in Super G. He was declared as favourites for the final few races of the season.

The man from Switerland became aware of the problem before the opening giant slalom of the new season where he was forced to withdraw from. Since then, the problem escalated and Feuz was forced into being admitted into hospital.

It is thought that the speed specialist has not recovered fully from surgery he undertook in March to correct the problem in his knee and it is unclear at this stage when he will be able to return to the sport.

It comes as a big blow to Swiss skiing as Feuz was expected to be one of the countryís leading gold medal hopes in the world championships in February in Schladmind, Austria.

Before the announcement, the Alpine racer was scheduled to race in the downhill and super-G races at Lake Louise, Alberta in the last weekend of November and then travel to Beaver Creek, Colorado the following week.
